Our Achievements

CLAPP started Free Surgeries Program for Cleft Lip & Palate patients at Punjab Medical College, Allied Hospital, Faisalabad in 2003. More than 1,000 patients were operated at the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad. Before the start of Cleft program, three new operating rooms for department of Plastic Surgery were constructed and equipped (by raising funds from Philanthropists of Faisalabad through the personal efforts of Prof. Dr. Ghulam Qadir Fayyaz) at Allied Hospital, Faisalabad to facilitate increasing number of free cleft surgeries.

In 2005, CLAPP shifted its operational setup to Lahore to help increasing number of cleft patients. CLAPP Team performed all free cleft surgeries at Gulberg Hospital Lahore till December 2007.

CLAPP General Hospital, Lahore

As the number of Cleft patients increased, CLAPP Trust started planning to develop a facility where more and more cleft patients could be operated comfortably without any problem. A premier cleft center was established in rented premises at Faisal Town, Lahore. In January 2008, CLAPP General Hospital (CGH) started working as first comprehensive Cleft rehabilitation center. It is the first dedicated cleft center in Pakistan. The feasibility of CGH was prepared in such a way that it continued to progress in the coming years.

CGH has been breaking its own record every year by performing maximum number of surgeries in one calendar year. More than 27,000 surgeries have been performed so far at CGH and through outdoor missions conducted by CLAPP team.

This Cleft Centre is the only hospital in Pakistan providing free of cost Cleft Surgeries, Speech therapy and Cleft Orthodontics, to all deserving cleft patients.

Humanitarian Services

In horrible Earthquake of October 08, 2005 which destroyed most of the infrastructure in northern areas of Pakistan and Kashmir

(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Kashmir_earthquake). More than 100,000 people lost their lives and more than 30,000 were badly injured .Our medical team stayed in the area for many weeks to do reconstructive surgeries and provide medical help to the effected people.

CLAPP provided quilts/blankets and financial assistance to the affected families as well.

In severe Floods of 2010 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Pakistan_floods), Clapp team provided food packets and quilts to hundreds of families in the southern Punjab as well as upper Sindh areas.

Hundreds of families are being provided monthly food packets through the help of friends of Clapp in Faisalabad.

Seven hundred tons of Rice (donated by Taiwan Government) are distributed every year to needy families throughout Pakistan.

Continuing Medical Education (CME)

CLAPP has always believed in continuing medical education to train young surgeons, orthodontists and Speech Therapists, thus enabling them to help Cleft patients more effectively.

CLAPP has organized 7 international symposia ( 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009, 20011, 2013 and 2015) in which hundreds of doctors from all over Pakistan have been participated. Senior Surgeons from Taiwan, USA, Germany, Malaysia, South Korea, India and Pakistan have delivered their lectures and then performed live surgeries to train the participants. CLAPP took this initiative to overcome the lack of trained surgeons to help reduce the number of un-operated cleft patients in Pakistan.

Public Awareness Seminars

Awareness is the first step to let the patients to get their status changed from : “Disabled to Enabled”

These Seminars increase awareness about Cleft deformities and its treatment in the general public and motivate Social Workers.

With effective Communication, we can involve many social organizations and institutions to bring the Cleft Lip & Palate patients for Free Plastic Surgeries, Naso Alveolar Molding and Speech Therapy at CLAPP General Hospital, Lahore, so that they can communicate better and become useful citizens of the society.

CLAPP Trust has conducted public awareness seminars not only in Pakistan but at the International level as well. CLAPP Trust has organized three cleft awareness seminars (2006, 2010 and 2014) at Hotel Pearl Continental, Lahore where renowned social workers and civil society members participated and highlighted the need for timely surgeries of Cleft Patients.
